Five Guys’s founder Jerry Murrell’s mother always told him, “If you can get a good haircut, or you can have a good drink in a bar, or you can have a good burger, you can always make money in the United States. Since 1986, Jerry and Jeanne Murrell have provided wise advice to the four young Murrell brothers, they have been favorites in Washington, D.C.: “Start a business or go to college.” This business route wins. The Murrell family opened a takeaway burger restaurant in Arlington, Virginia. In the 1980s and 1990s, the Murrell family perfected their simple system. The five guys are the place to get fresh juicy burgers, and you can fill all the ingredients between the freshly baked buns. Five Guys was born, and with the development of the family, their business also increased. Four more restaurants with seated seating have been added to accommodate the growing number of customers.
